In 2008, the European Union (EU) and 14 Caribbean countries signed an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) geared towards strengthening trade and investment relations and promoting regional integration between the Parties and CARIFORUM countries. The EU has commissioned a series of sectoral reports to raise awareness of the economic opportunities related to the CARIFORUM-EU EPA to enable the EU private sector to foster valuable business partnerships in the region.
The second sectoral report on Sustainable Tourism, which is now available here, highlights several trade and investment opportunities in the sustainable tourism sector in the CARIFORUM region. An analysis of the benefits of the CARIFORUM-EU EPA for trade and investment in the sector is provided along with an overview of the legal and policy landscape across CARIFORUM. The report also underlines the main challenges that investors are likely to face when penetrating the CARIFORUM market. The e-brochure, which summarises the main findings of the report, can be accessed on this link.
