Our Team designed a training on applying appropriate tools and methodology for conducting GVC Analysis, to share with Bappenas officers a GVC analysis approach and help them gain insights into sectoral GVC composition using MRIO tables and trade flow analysis. The work included two training workshops using theory and practical sessions to build BAPPENAS expertise in this area. The training covered data collection, data modeling, and analysis through visual tools.

The first module involved a lecture-based sessions coupled with some installation and practice exercises to explore one of the specific sectors as studied in the Sectoral Deep-dive Study. The second module provided hands-on exercises where participants had to perform the GVC and trade flow analysis of a particular sector under the guidance of the trainers.Overall, the participants acquired competence in the calculation of global value chains participation indicators, analysing forward and backward linkages using input-output tables; introducing trade classification systems for different stages of processing, trade flow analysis and the different indicators.
